Damaged but not beyond repair, Category D is not as extreme as Category C salvage which is effectively vehicles written off. When buying a second hand vehicle sometimes they mention that they are repaired CAT D vehicles - which means they once had a collision and have since been repaired. |

If repaired by a professional or someone who knows what they are doing a CAT D salvaged vehicle can be as good as new again, but as ever we recommend you be vigilant and check the credentials of the repair works done on a CAT D Car. |
CAT D Salvage
A Category D Vehicle is a salvaged car or vehicle which has been damaged to the extent that the associated retail cost of its repair would not exceed the retail pre-accident value thereof, effectively Category D salvage means damaged repairable. This category therefor is very similar to our "damaged repairable" however the difference in terminology can attract different types of vehicle sale. Category D vehicles are more likely to be being sold by a larger salvage dealer.
