As with all engines and cars, lower mileage is usually a good thing - that is of-course unless the engine has been driven hard - sports car engines such as nissan skylines often suffer with this problem. |
Engines
If your engine gives up the ghost but the rest of your car or commercial vehicle is still going strong is it really a good idea to give up on it? Quite often with newer vehicles a lot of motorway miles take more toll on the engine of a vehicle than the rest of the parts. But to scrap a car based on its engine blowing is a huge waste. Refurbished and salvaged engines are available for all common models and can be acquired for as little as a few hundred pounds, often with half the mileage your current engine has.
Replacing your blown engine with a newer one can be a quick or a lengthy job, depending entirely on the model of car and the condition of the engine and associated leads, pipes and connectors. For the most part buying a replacement engine for common cars like Audi's or Ford's is fairly easy, often you have a choice of engine sizes and mileages - and for a qualified or skilled mechanic it can be a fairly quick cost effective job placing it in your car. All in all it can work out a lot cheaper than you may think to replace the engine in your car with a salvaged engine!
